Gadget reviews, Geek Gadgets

If you are not well aware – iPod Touch or iTouch (many don’t like to call iTouch), the luxury class PDA type gadget from Apple is a portable media player like the Ipod Classic but with loads of features like the touch screen and a brilliant stylish design. Features like media player (Audio and Video), Flash memory, Internet (Wi-Fi), Applications n Games and the touch screen (which makes it stand out of all previous Apple IPods) make it a classified Gadget. IPod Touch was launched in around September, 2007 and it was known as the 1st Generation Ipod Touch but recently since the launch, the 2nd Generation Ipod Touch has become the world’s best and most beautiful portable media player that’s available at this price.

The 2nd Generation IPod Touch with 32 GB of space and the Iphone OS operating system emulates a normal notebook system and lets you do most of the things that you could do in your PC and Internet. Yes you can install supported applications/software of your choice; also you can play the favourite games like the Quakes, Prince of Persia etc. You can download the software and games directly by connecting to Internet by Wi-Fi in the iPod touch itself. And not only that you download and watch only Youtube Videos, but any online video from the streaming video sites and you’ll be able to watch full size movies too.

Using iTunes installed in your PC/Mac just sync the favourite movies into the gadget via USB. Either you sync your iPod with your PC/Mac or you can connect iTunes Music Store and Apple’s App Store for availing the best software, games, music, videos etc. In this 2nd Generation of iPod Touch the quality of Videos has improved a lot plus you can use the new sound controls (that has been added to left side of the gadget) in the video playback mode itself for sound adjustment. The default applications that are pre-included in this iPod Touch 2nd gen include the popular Safari web browser, the Google Maps and an application each for YouTube Videos and Email besides the usual widgets for Weather, Calendar, Stocks, Note, Calculator, Stopwatch and Alarm. Now coming to the display, IPod Touch sports a display of 163 PPI (Pixels per Inch) with the supported resolution of 480 X 320 px with 3:2 aspect ratio in its screen of 3.5 Inch.

You can store your favourite photos, videos and music in your iPod Touch since it has a fantastic storage space of 32 GB/16GB. The inbuilt rechargeable Lithium Ion battery supports some six hrs. of video playback and about 36 hrs. of audio on a full charge which is one of the improvements since the 1st generation iPod Touch. The ear-bud/ headphone provided with it is good tough not the best and people are normally purchasing quality head-phones either from Apple itself or Third Party Providers. The features that this Ipod Touch lacks seriously are presence of GPS System and a camera like that in the Iphone 3G. And why I said ‘seriously’ is because – Each of the Touch fans miss these features in their dream multimedia gadget. At last the best Ipod Touch feature which keeps you both Fit n Cool at a time is the Nike+Ipod Application (extra hardware is present in the Ipod Touch). Put the Nike+IPod sensor (which you need to purchase) in your shoe and the inbuilt-reciever in the Ipod Touch measures several of your work-out details. So you see how interesting this small wonderful gadget is all about.

  1. I’ve enjoyed Apple for sometime, they produce technology that is visually beautiful while working like a charm. Alot of companies aren’t able to say that, it’s typically one or the other. Tech businesses don’t usually take aesthetics seriously like Apple. With me stating that I’ve got to say that I’m very excited about the new iSlate. One thing I question though, is it too soon? I think that this product may be ahead of its time. What do you think?
